As Kaivax points out in a post on the official forums tonight, the developers have noticed some player feedback regarding Burning Crusade Classic Arena Season 1 and want to add some clarity to how it works.
We've put together a list of all the changes you can expect.
Arena teams will all start at 0 instead of 1500
Diminishing Returns will have a 15-20 second cooldown
All equipment from PvP will require a consistent personal rating in order to be able to be purchased and equipped:
- Shoulders: 2,200
- Weapon: 2,050
- Head: 1,700
- Chest: 1,600
- Legs: 1,550
Recently, Blizzard has been known to have that new arena system from WoW: Burning Crusade Classic presented. Here again the most important adjustments compared to the original system from TBC:
The system used in PvP in 2008 is used for the matchmaking evaluation.
All teams start with a rating of 0 instead of a rating of 1,500
Already in season 1, almost all items from arena sellers will require a certain rating to be purchased. The only exceptions: gloves, throwing weapon, off-hand items (except for shields), magic wand. The rating requirements range from 1,550 to 2,200.
You don’t (!) Need an arena rating if you want to buy arena equipment from previous seasons. Of course, this only comes into play from season 2 onwards.
You get arena points with the weekly ID reset, the amount of points depends on the team that has earned the most points.
In order to receive arena points, your team must have completed at least 10 games per week, and your character must have participated in at least 30 percent of the games. In addition, your personal rating must not be more than 150 rating points away from your team rating.
In order for players to face opponents of a similar level, the game also calculates a matchmaking rating (MMR) for each character. After each match, your MMR is updated to best reflect your level, while your team rating and personal rating are updated based on the match result and matchmaking calculations. This MMR follows your team character as a team. If a player leaves a team and joins a new one, that team will immediately face opponents of a similar level, even if that team starts with a team rating of 0.
